Fall Out Boy Meet and Greet

Here's a good follow up the last post of my interview with Patrick Stump, the Fall Out Boy vocalist.

Fall Out Boy had been very near and dear to my heart for years and I am sad to say they are on an indefinite hiatus, which made the opportunity to see them at a small venue before their demise all the more amazing. On November 6, 2008, WBRU's DJ Emmett and I accompanied winners to (if I recall correctly) Harper's Ferry in Allston, MA for a quick meet and greet and small show that shed the usual demonstration of emo-to-cool-for-school-ness and stadium theatrics they had grown into and stripped back down into a club show. Though, their guitars did still light up for the final number.

My apologies that these are not the best photography, but I guess I never promised quality shots. Just the moments I could capture.

Virgin Fest - Foo Fighters

This photo for me is so rock-n-roll. Why I love the Foo Fighters and why this set was so awesome for me. I hope to see them again one day.

Dave Grohl was like a five year old who snorted pixi stix that night.

Drummer Taylor Hawkins reminds me of Animal from The Muppet Show. Don't you think?

Virgin Fest - Nine Inch Nails

Oh my gosh I have a lot of photos of Nine Inch Nails. I think it's because I got a photo pass but didn't have a legit camera and wanted to be sure I looked legit. And when you're that close, you figure you better capture it.

You can kind of see the bulbs in the photo above that then came forward and were illuminated for a light show segment. A very dancey set, I must say. My respect and affection for the band grew that day.

Virgin Fest - Paramore and Taking Back Sunday

Great set of emo bands, both featured in my old ethnography from 2009 if your in the mood for some musical thought (Warning, do not open in Google Chrome! Weird glitch.)

And I can never have too much Paramore. This was a good set but I have to say the best show I ever saw them put on was the one at WBRU Summer Concert Series.

Taking Back Sunday was fun though I got nervous every time Adam Lazzara swung the mic cord around his neck. Ouch!
